Nehemiah Initiative for Greening Schools.
Nursery Bed Establishment across ten secondary schools in Eastern Uganda — in partnership with the Government of Uganda and the United Nations Development Programme.
Deforestation, at scale, meets classrooms.
Eastern Uganda faces sustained pressure on its tree cover from population growth, agricultural expansion, and fuelwood demand. The Nehemiah Initiative was conceived as a programme that would tie environmental restoration directly to secondary education — placing productive tree nurseries inside school compounds and equipping students and teachers to run them.
Magniforce was engaged to establish these nurseries across ten schools: designing and constructing the physical infrastructure, sourcing planting material, running teacher and student training, and submitting long-term sustainability plans to each institution.
Four phases of work. One integrated programme.
Nursery Bed Structures, Tools & Training
Site preparation, timber shade structures, and initial equipment supply. Teachers and student groups trained on nursery management fundamentals.
Water Systems & Fencing
Reliable water access installed at every site and protective fencing erected to secure seedlings from livestock and disturbance.
Sowing & Seedling Production
Species selection, seed sourcing, sowing schedules and pricking-out — producing seedlings ready for transplanting into surrounding communities.
Capacity-Building & Sustainability Plans
Written sustainability plans submitted to each school, covering seasonal calendars, maintenance responsibilities, and records management.

Fencing, water systems, and shade structures set on repair-and-inspection schedules.
Sowing, pricking-out, and out-planting aligned to Eastern Uganda's rainfall pattern.
Written logs handed to each school so production can continue independently.
Delivered across all ten sites, on schedule.
"A partnership with UNDP and the Government of Uganda is one Magniforce takes with the seriousness it deserves. The nurseries stand. The plans are in the schools' hands. The work continues."
